Newcomers to Internet Marketing more often than not set up a static web site and try to attract people to it.   But once someone has visited your site you only have a short time to interest them in what you have to offer and if it is something you are selling and they do not want it then you have lost them.   But if what they land on is your squeeze page, where they only have one option, give you their name and email address in return for a free give, be it a series of messages, a report, etc, you will not have lost them and you can contact them again with other offers.

You can do your own squeeze page, but it is much easier to use one that has already been done for you.   Many business are now giving away, or selling generic squeeze pagess, which are set up for you and all you have to is fill them in.

It has been found that the best layout for a squeeze page is:

A place at the top were you can put in a header, branding yourself.

On the left the benefits your subscriber gets in the form of bullet points usually 4 or 5

LGT supply these but the first ones a subscriber is introduced to are a series promoting various programs they have set up for their subscribers.    Some of these have autoresponders automatically attached to them, but with others you have to set your own up.   This includes putting a series of messages into them.    But this is no problem as they and others provide emails for you to put in them together with books to sell.  And if you purchase Resell Rights material these often come with messages to put in your autoresponder.

If you were setting up a Bricks and Mortar business on the High Street the first thing you would have to do is look for a suitable premises.   But before actually doing this you would have to decide what you were going to sell and how much space you needed to house it.

In the same way when you are setting up an internet business you have to decide the same thing.   The internet equivalent to a High Street shop is your hosting company.   And just as you need a name for your shop you need a domain name to give to those you want to attract to your web site.   This should reflect what you want to sell.  For example if you want to sell health products it should have health in it.

Some shops exclusively sell other peoples goods, with others selling their own and some a mixture of both.   When a person sets up an internet business they decide what it is they want to sell and sign up as an affiliate to a business that has goods in this market.

What you want to do is Brand Yourself so that people think of you are the expert or leader in what you have to offer.   You may have a lot of diverse products on offer, but if you can link them all together with a Theme and Brand Name, people will associate them with it and with you.

The first thing you are told when starting out is that you have to:

If you have a store on the High Street those walking down it can see it, come in and buy something.   But with the internet you have to let people know that you and your business exist.    It is said, and proved to be true, that you can sell to someone who has already bought from you much easier than you can to a stranger.    And even if they have not bought from you only given you their name and email address in return for a free gift there is still a degree of trust between you.   To build your list you have to have an

Autoresponder

All of them operate on a similar principle:  You sign up for the one you have chosen, be it one you host yourself, or one that is supplied by an outside company, such as Aweber, Get Response (the most popular ones).   You choose a name for the first campaign you want to set up and if it hasn’t been taken  you can proceed.   Just as with a domain name it is wise to reflect what you are offering in the name of the campaign.   You will need to get a code from them to put on your website, blog, etc for people to fill in and be added to your subscribers list.    This is a large subject and will be covered in depth in a later post.

LGT provide both hosting and autoresponders.   How many domains they host for you and how many autoresponder you can set up depends on the level of membership you hold.   Gold and Platinum are all but unlimited.

So you have your hosting in place and your autoresponder set up.   Now you need a mechanism to get your web site in front of those you wish to subscribe and a means of persuading them to do so.   This brings us to the next thing you need:

Those who join are affiliates in that they are promoting a business they did not build and launch and which they do not own. But unlike other affiliate programs those who they recruit and who join become their subscribers. The owner of LGT is Steve Swetman. And it from them that I get my conference room. But that is not all by any means. As the name implies what they provide you with is Tools to Build Your List.

Training is given 5 days a week – Tuesday to Friday at 11.00 a.m. EST. And Saturday at 1.00 p.m. EST. A different theme is selected each week. Steve Swetman does not give the training himself, but has a team who does, under Crystal Spring, who is the Lead Trainer. She is helped by 3 others.

LGT provides a complete system, with Hosting, an Autoresponder, a Shopping Cart, Books, Articles, etc each month for you to make your own, with your own links in them, be it for the book itself, affiliate programs, etc. Training is given on all of these.

Blogs are more and more replacing static web sites and it via these that we can do so. Like a lot of others I have more than one blog and web site, but do not use any of these to Brand Myself. That way people will continually be exposed to it and begin to regard you as an authority on the niche topic you have chosen.

As mentioned before you do not want to advertise in places that worked previously but are no longer working. In the Training Room you are told about tried and tested places to do so.

You can earn money by promoting LGT, but this is supplementary to what you can earn from joining the program I originally joined after being told about it by Nigel Band. We will be looking at that program in the next post.

Do you Focus on One Program at a Time, only joining others if they can aid you with the one you are at present focusing on.

If you think a program is worth joining and you will be able to make money by promoting it you should ask yourself:

* Will it fit in with what else I am doing?
* Can it be advertised on an existing web site?
* Will I have to divert time or funds away from existing programs?
* Is it in opposition or complementary to existing programs?

If you can’t answer yes to the 1st 2 and no to the last 2 then you should not get involved with it.

But this only applies to programs that you rely on to provide you with an income you can live on. Obviously the more places you have to advertise in the better and these will definitely be incorporated into your main program.

Most of the information in this Blog will be about the services  and  training Lead Generating Tools (LGT) provide.   Many people join LGT because of the Training, which initially was given free to everyone, but now it will only be given to those who are paid  subscribers.

People can still join Lead Generating Tools for free, but they will not get the training.  When they realise this and see what else they can get, i.e. everything they require to run an internet business they usually upgrade.
